So, How is Hong Kong?
Yes, I'm back to Cambridge last night, but then going to Oakhall ski trip today. Hopefully we'll have great fun and won't get any arms/legs broken.
I really want to share some bits about what I think about Hong Kong.
Firstly, it seems that Hong Kong people have forgotten how to use an escalator. I first find it very annoying that almost each escalator comes with a voice keep saying "Please hold the handrail". Then, I find an advertisement on TV teaching people what a escalator is and how to use it. This is absolutely amazing! I think only Hong Kong would educate their people how to use an escalator.
Secondly, all shop keepers are very polite. I first very impress with their "Welcome, and Thank you" - in Cantonese: 歡迎光臨 , 你好. 隨便睇, 睇啱可以試下喎... It was all very impressive to me compare with the service you receive in the UK (actually you should consider yourself lucky if you're being serviced). I was greet 4 times and being thanked for 2 times when I purchase a bread from a baker in MTR. It was very amazing.
However, in the next day, I went to a 7-eleven, the shop keeper (a young lady) keep on saying the same pair of greetings to all the customers in queue. I was the last customer in the queue, after my purchase, she keep saying the greetings to no one, her eyes didn't even look up when she greets. These greetings turns from politeness to annoyance. It's just like you walk into a shop and a door bell rang. In fact, I actually greet these door bells back for a few times. The door bell didn't react as they never expect their customer would react to their greetings.
Anyway, time to go out for some shopping and prepare my lovely ski trip in Swiss! And, yes! I bought a camcorder!!! Xacti HD700 from Sanyo. Looking forward we'll have some great funny videos!
